The environment

Cadzand-Bad is situated on the border between Zeeland and Flanders. The park is just a short walk (350 meters) from the North Sea beach. The beach house is an ideal base for day trips by car, bicycle, or boat. Many beach pavilions—such as Piraat, Zeemeeuw, Moio Beach, Puur, and Breskens aan Zee (BAZ)—are within walking or cycling distance.

Knokke is a renowned Belgian seaside resort where you can stroll along a beautiful, wide promenade. Chic, elegant, and exclusive are words that characterize Knokke. There are more than 20 restaurants holding one or more Michelin stars in and around the town. Knokke is just under 8 kilometers away and is easily accessible by bicycle; a 6-kilometer walk along the beach offers another alternative.

Sluis is a picturesque fortified town with lovely shops and restaurants that are open seven days a week. Sluis is home to the only belfry in the Netherlands. Thanks to the short distance of just 10 km, Sluis is also easily accessible by bicycle.

Bruges is definitely worth a visit. The city features a medieval historic center and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. It can be explored via its cobblestone streets or by boat tour. Locals call the canals that crisscross the city "Reien," named after the Reie—a small river that was fully canalized during the Middle Ages. Bruges is renowned for its museums, churches, chocolate, and lace. The city is located approximately 25 km away.

Ghent, Belgium's third-largest city, is approximately 60 km away. It boasts over 9,800 registered buildings of cultural and historical significance, most of which are also listed as heritage sites. The city is famous for the "Ghent Festival" (Gentse Feesten), the largest public festival in Europe.

The Zwin Nature Reserve offers a beautiful natural setting for hiking or cycling. At low tide, it is also possible to walk to Knokke.

Other potential excursion destinations include Breskens (where a bicycle and pedestrian ferry departs for Vlissingen), Sint Anna ter Muiden, and Ijzendijke.
